Christian Death's landmark album second album Catastrophe Ballet (1984) is such a recording and a cornerstone of the Gothic/deathrock/post-punk/early punk scenes. Led by charismatic, iconic singer Rozz Williams and guitarist Valor Kand, Christian Death broke rank from their LA punk rock surroundings here, and eschewed raw anger for an elegant, romantic and hypnotic form of art not heard before.
